Hebrew made interesting - I, like most Jews, learned to read Hebrew for the purposes of prayer and could read Hebrew reasonably comfortably but could not understand what I was reading. Having made some trips to Israel it was soon apparent that while I was comfortable with my prayer book Hebrew, actually speaking it and understanding it are totally different! This book reminded me of the basics of the language (basic grammar etc) that I had learned at a young age but also introduced me to phrases and words that you hear in everyday Hebrew. If you have access to a PC and the Internet then you can access resources over the net (including videoclips etc). This made things a lot more fun and I feel that I have actually learned something via this book. Have I learned to speak Hebrew fluently? No, but I have developed more confidence and feel that I could handle a day-to-day exchange without too much embarassment!
